Audience Development Manager – Technical Conferences

The Opportunity
We are seeking an Audience Development Manager to build, scale, and convert our global practitioner community around ISMG’s highly technical cybersecurity conferences, including Hardwear.io and Nullcon, driving paid event attendance and training registrations.
This role sits at the intersection of technical community engagement, audience development, and strategic selling. You will work closely with conference production, delegate acquisition, audience development, and marketing teams to grow participation from practitioners across the hardware and embedded security ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is someone who can build credibility within deeply technical communities, develop relationships with engineers and researchers, and position ISMG’s events as must-attend gatherings for the global hardware and embedded security community.
Candidates who are active in security research, hardware hacking, reverse engineering, or embedded security communities are especially encouraged to apply.
What You'll Be Doing
Delegate Pipeline & Paid Registration Growth
Drive paid attendance for ISMG’s technical conferences through targeted outreach campaigns and strategic engagement.
Re-engage past attendees, training alumni, and technical community members
Identify and pursue multi-seat corporate registrations by engaging engineering leaders, security team managers, and product security leadership
Position the event’s value proposition and ROI to organizations considering sending multiple team members
Refine messaging and outreach strategy in partnership with marketing based on audience insights and engagement patterns
Technical Community Engagement & Growth
Act as an ambassador for ISMG within the hardware and embedded security community, building authentic engagement with practitioners and researchers.
Develop relationships with firmware engineers, embedded penetration testers, product security teams, reverse engineering specialists, and security researchers
Participate in and engage technical communities across platforms such as Discord, Reddit, Slack groups, and industry forums
Support webinars, virtual events, and community touchpoints that keep the audience engaged between conferences
Encourage participation from technical communities involved in hardware hacking, IoT security, reverse engineering, and embedded security research
Audience Insights & Strategic Collaboration
Develop a strong understanding of the hardware and embedded security landscape
Share audience insights to improve outreach campaigns and advertising effectiveness
Provide feedback to marketing and production teams to refine messaging, positioning, and targeting strategy
Help ensure the conference content and messaging resonate with practitioners and researchers
What You Bring to the Table
Core Requirements
3–5+ years of experience in sales, audience development, community engagement, or technical event marketing
Experience executing outbound campaigns across email and LinkedIn
Ability to engage confidently with technical professionals and engineering teams
Comfort tracking performance metrics, outreach activity, and conversion data
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
Experience driving registrations for paid technical conferences or training programs
Familiarity with hardware security, IoT security, reverse engineering, or embedded systems
Existing connections within cybersecurity or hardware security communities
Ideal Backgrounds:
Sales or business development roles within cybersecurity, developer tools, or technical products
Delegate acquisition or audience development for technical conferences
Community management or ecosystem engagement in technical communities
Professionals active in hardware, security research, embedded systems, or hacking communities
